We will miss our phone chats and the prospect of future visits to see you.
We will miss your mischievous sense of humor and your bright, wide smile.
We regret there will be no more conversations to hound you about our family history.
No more chances to badger you for memories of growing up.
We are grateful for the happy times we shared at family gatherings for Christmas, and weddings, and on holidays and visits over the years. Life-long memories that will sustain us.
We’ll remember your fondness for Her Majesty the Queen with whom you shared a birth year and a refreshing, common sense, no-nonsense approach to life – an inspiring trait, particular to your generation, and one which, I think, is sadly lacking today.
We’ll remember with delight your impressive kitchen repertoire, and especially your cheese and biscuits and scones for afternoon tea! Always prepared with love but without great fanfare or unnecessary fuss.
We are grateful that you shared some childhood memories a few years ago when this site was being set up in time for Dad’s 80th birthday. And we are thankful for the times you allowed us to pick your brains on the phone (or in Greg’s case, when he came to visit) as we reminisced.
After 95 years, you well and truly deserve a rest. So, sleep well dear Aunty Nancy. We will remember you fondly. And often. And we will enjoy reading and re-reading your memoirs on “Aunty Nancy’s Page“. And when we have a moment we’ll add some of your telephone interviews.
But we’ll say cheerio for now. RIP.
